Two persons lost their lives in a tragic road accident early Friday morning when a Canter truck, bearing registration number JK14J-7550, skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Nachilana on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Banihal area of Ramban district.

According to SHO Banihal Ashiq Bukhari, the truck was enroute to Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Both the driver and the conductor died on the spot.The deceased driver has been identified as Raju Bhat son of Desraj bhat R/O Udhampur

He said, soon after the report of incident, a rescue operation was launched by police and QRT Ramsoo volunteers and recovered the bodies from damaged truck. Their bodies have been shifted to Sub District Hospital Banihal for medico-legal formalities.

“Police are investigating the cause of incident,” he said.
