Jammu Railway Division has earned a revenue of Rs 67 lakh as fine in 11386 cases of ticketless and irregular travel in October 2025.
Railway officials in the division regularly conduct surprise ticket checking drives to prevent unauthorized passenger entry onto trains.“In order to provide comfortable travel and better services to all genuine rail users, the ticket checking staff of the Jammu Division of Northern Railway, under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar and the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Jammu Railway Division, Uchit Singhal, conducts continuous ticket checking drives in trains and stations to curb ticketless and irregular travel. Under this campaign, the divisional checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors detected a total of 11,386 cases of ticketless and irregular travel in October 2025 and collected a total amount of Rs 67 lakh as fine,” said a spokesperson of Jammu Railway Division.
“This collection was made during a special ticket checking drive in the festive season in October under the guidance of Senior DCM, Uchit Singhal. In the ten days leading up to October 26, 2025, a total of 2,500 ticketless passengers were charged and a fine of approximately Rs 3.2 million was collected. This represents a significant increase in passenger revenue during the first festive season since the formation of the Jammu Division in 2025,” the spokesperson said.
Commenting on these drives, Uchit Singhal stated, “These ticket checking drives ensure passengers feel comfortable and safe during their travels and contribute to improving the railway’s financial health, thereby contributing to the development of passenger amenities.”
Advising the passengers to carry valid tickets while traveling, Singhal said that the ticket checking staff performed an excellent job in October.
