Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma today launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of turning the National Conference (NC) into a symbol of dynastic politics and inherited power.
In a strong statement, Sharma said, “The National Conference embodies nepotism. Omar Abdullah’s rise to power owes more to his family lineage than merit. Over the years, numerous capable and dedicated workers were sidelined to make way for one family’s political dominance.”
He added that the pattern of family succession continues unabated in the NC. “Just as Omar Abdullah inherited power from his father, his sons are likely to follow suit — leapfrogging over hardworking party members simply because of their surname,” Sharma remarked.
Drawing a sharp contrast with the Bharatiya Janata Party, the LoP asserted, “The BJP’s strength lies in its openness and inclusivity. In our party, leadership is earned through dedication and performance, not bloodline. From the grassroots karyakarta to the highest office, opportunity is based on commitment to the nation, not family connections.”
Sharma concluded by saying that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have seen through the politics of privilege and are now standing with the politics of performance. “The era of dynasties is over — the era of democracy and delivery has begun under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
