A stampede broke out Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar on Sunday morning after a huge crowd gathered at the temple. At least six people were killed and more than 25 were injured in the tragic incident. Rescue operations are currently underway, according to the SSP of Haridwar.

"At least people are dead in a stampede after a huge crowd gathered at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar. I am leaving for the spot. A detailed report of the incident is awaited," Garhwal Division Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey told news agency.
Situation being monitored: Uttarakhand CM  
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the stampede incident at the Mansa Devi temple. He said that the SDRF Uttarakhand Police, local police, and other rescue teams have reached the site and are engaged in relief and rescue operations.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said he was saddened by the stampede at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar and asserted that the situation was being monitored. "Very sad news has been received about a stampede on the way to the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar. SDRF, local police, and other rescue teams have reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue operations," Dhami said in an X post.

"I am constantly in touch with the local administration in this regard and the situation is being constantly monitored. I pray to Mata Rani for the safety of all the devotees," he added.
Chief Minister Dhami ordered a magisterial inquiry and announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

President, PM Modi expresses condolences
President Droupadi Murmu expresses condolences following the loss of lives due to a stampede on the route to the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar. "The news of the death of many devotees in the stampede accident on the way to the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar is deeply painful. I express my heartfelt condolences to all the grieving families. I pray that all the injured devotees recover quickly."


Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences. "Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a stampede on the route to Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected," PMO said in an X post, quoting PM Modi.
