Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, on Monday said that comprehensive security arrangements are in motion to ensure Independence Day celebrations on August 15 are held in a safe and peaceful atmosphere.
Speaking to media persons in Srinagar, as per news agency , Birdi said that security drills and full-dress rehearsals are already being conducted. “We have established a multi-tier security grid to address every aspect of safety for the upcoming celebrations,” he noted.
The IGP added that Jammu and Kashmir Police, working closely with paramilitary forces, are enhancing deployment and surveillance in vulnerable and strategic locations.
“Our focus is on the smooth conduct of the event, ensuring the safety of participants and the general public,” Birdi said, stressing that all arrangements are aimed at preventing any disturbance.
Security around Independence Day functions in the region has traditionally been tight, and officials confirm preparations involve heightened vigilance and coordination.(KNC)
