Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India and the UK were united in the fight against terrorism and thanker British counterpart Keir Starmer for condemning the dastardly attack in Pahalgam by terrorists that led to the death of 26 civilians.
PM Modi is on a two-day visit to the UK, where the two countries signed the much-awaited trade deal. “We express our gratitude to Prime Minister Starmer and his government for the strong condemnation of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam,” Modi said during a media briefing after his meeting with Starmer.
“India and UK united are in the belief that there is no place for double standards in the fight against terrorism,” he added, citing the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April.
Moreover, Modi said both the countries will continue to work together on matters related to extradition of economic offenders.
Modi also asserted forces that “misuse” democratic freedoms to “undermine democracy” itself will be held accountable by both the nations.
The two countries also talked major geopolitical issues affecting both, including peace in the Indo-pacific region, Ukraine conflict, and situation in West Asia, PM Modi said, adding that both support early restoration of peace.
