Jammu, September 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has issued orders extending the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) coverage to thousands of eligible government employees.

The decision follows the approval of the Council of Ministers.

Key Details:

Eligibility: Employees appointed against posts advertised or notified before December 24, 2009, and who subsequently joined service under the New Pension Scheme (NPS), are eligible.

One-Time Option: Eligible employees can switch from NPS to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Three-Month Deadline: Employees must exercise their option through the proper official channel within three months from the date of issuance of the order.
Final Decision: Once exercised, the option will be final and cannot be changed.
No Option, No Switch: Employees who fail to exercise the option within the stipulated period will continue under NPS.

The decision is expected to bring relief to thousands of employees whose posts were advertised before the implementation of the New Pension Scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.
