Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday visited Cygnus Ujala Hospital in Srinagar to meet the injured victims of the Nowgam Police Station blast, which claimed nine lives and left 32 others injured on Thursday night.
Officials said the LG interacted with the injured police personnel, revenue officials, and civilians who are undergoing treatment at the hospital. He took firsthand updates on their condition and directed the medical staff to ensure the best possible care.
The blast occurred at 11:20 pm on November 14 inside the Nowgam Police Station when a large quantity of explosive substances and chemicals, recovered during the investigation of FIR No. 162/2025, accidentally detonated. The explosives had been kept in an open area of the police station and were being processed as part of the standard forensic procedure.
The explosion caused massive damage to the police station building and also impacted nearby houses.
The LG, while expressing solidarity, assured the injured and their families that the government stands firmly with them in this difficult hour. He also conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.
