The meeting assumes significance in backdrop of the recent developments that have taken place after the April 22, Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 civilians dead.
Soon after the attack India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, 2025 and destroyed nine terrorist camps deep inside Pakistan and PoK. It led to breaking out skirmishes between India and Pakistan that continued till May 10. Both the countries announced ceasefire after Pakistan DGMO approached his counterpart in India and sought the end to hostilities.
