JKPCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra today asked the JK Govt to send an all party MLAs team to the Kashmiri migrant camps to see their living conditions and recommend urgent measures to improve their lot.
Karra said this here today after interaction with the Kashmiri Pandit community, on the eve of holy festival of shivratri, during a visit to the Jagti migrant camp at Nagrota Jammu.
He said enough politics has taken place on the plight and sufferings of Kashmiri displaced community bitvits time to rise above vote bank politics and and improve their lot who are suffering on multiple fronts .
He said that while fresh initiatives for their respectful, safe & dignified return should be taken and continue ,for which ,too, Congress has suggested the government a local level dialogue through elected MLAs from all parties ,simultaneously urgent and effective steps should be taken to improve their living conditions and rehabilitation measures in migrant camps and solve their genuine issues. The best way is to send an all party MLAs team to their camps and migrant basis to study their conditions and recommend urgent measures.
Karra was invited by the migrant community to express gratitude for forcefully raising the issue of community during the ongoing budget session of JK Assembly.
Accompanied by senior leaders of the party including working President Shri Raman Bhalla, Former minister Yogesh Sawhney, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Former MLA A R Rather ,Migrant cell Chairman H L Pandita ,Zaffar Slathi ,Shubam Pandit,Sumit Pandit,AshwaniKumar ,Rajnath Dhar & others, Karra visited the migrant in the eve of holy festival of shivratri to share greetings with the community.
Karra said that there was an age old tradition of celebrating Shivratri and other holy festivals of Hindus and Muslims together In Kashmir, which every right thinking Kashmiri is badly missing today and looks to the day when the migrant community returns to their home land with dignity,honour, safety and security.
He said the he and a majority of Kashmiri muslim community has a pain in the heart over the migration of Hindus from Kashmir, for which he has openly regretted that they couldn't do anything to check their migration ,in view of the situations that time.
He also regretted that nothing substantial was done for the migrant community except UPA government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh and there is need to jointly look towards them.
Karra also deputed Former minister and DCC President Jammu Urban to visit Jagti migrant camp alongwith team to study their problems and submit report to the party.
Working President Raman Bhalla in his address referred to the sufferings of the community and the day today problems faced by them and regretted that ruling party at the centre only used them a vote bank while neglecting them for all these years.
He appreciated the presentation and concern of PCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra in the Assembly and the suggestions put forth by him to help the community rising above party politics.
He said Congress always stands for them as they areblike family members .The top leadership of Congress Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru bekobged to the community.Former minister Yogesh Sawhney, Former MLA A R Rather, H L Pandita and Several other community leaders put forth their views and felicitated Karra for his concern for the migrant community.
