 Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, reviewed the status of restoration of essential services including Power supply, water supply, road connectivity, mobile network and movement of traffic affected by recent incessant rains.

The meeting was attended by Managing Director JPDCL, IGP traffic, Commissioner JMC, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs, Chief engineers of PDD, PWD, PHE, Director Food and Civil Supplies, Heads and officials of BRO, NHAI, NHIDCL, Indian Oil Corporation and mobile service providers.

The Divisional Commissioner took stock of the areas that suffered damages to infrastructure and disruption of essential services in each district.

The Regional Officer NHAI apprised the Div Com that restoration work of the severely affected portion of NH44 at Samroli in Udhampur shall be completed by tomorrow evening. The Div Com directed him to augment the men and machinery.

The officials of PWD, PDD and PHE were also directed to closely monitor the restoration works of their respective departments for speedy resumption of services.

He asked the PHE department to take sampling of water in the waterlogged and flood affected water supply schemes before declaring these safe for use.

The Deputy Commissioners were directed to facilitate and support the men and field staff on the ground, especially designated to restore essential services in Towns and remote and hilly areas.

The SSP traffic rural apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the regulation plan for movement of traffic and trucks carrying essential supplies from Lakhanpur to Kashmir via Mughal road.

Directions were also issued for immediate distribution of adequate relief material to people of all affected areas.

He also took stock of the availability of ration supply and essential commodities in all districts and directed the concerned District Administrations to conduct the damage assessment of movable/immovable property, livestock, crops and land in their respective districts.
