Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was allegedly attacked during a Jan Sunwai (public hearing) meeting at her new Civil Lines residence on Wednesday.

The attacker allegedly entered her Camp Office, posing as a complainant. Sources present at the office said the man approached her with a complaint during the meeting, which starts at 8 am, said party sources.

The accused, Rajesh Bhai Kimji Bhai Sakariya, 41, from Rajkot, Gujarat, has been apprehended and his questioning is underway, a police officer said.

“The accused was in the queue and showed the CM some court papers… Security intervened, and the person was taken away from the premises. Local police were then called, and the man was apprehended,” the police officer said.

Senior police officers, including Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh, rushed to the Camp Office, said sources.

The Delhi BJP issued an official statement condemning the incident. Party president Virendra Sachdeva told the media, “The Chief Minister is in a state of shock. She has been examined by doctors and is currently stable. She is a strong woman and knows her commitment towards Delhi.”
