 Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan today visited various locations along the Ramban-Banihal stretch of NH-44 to review the progress of   ongoing four-laning work and assess the status of critical infrastructure projects.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SSP Arun Gupta; SSP Traffic NHW Raja Adil Hamid; SDM Ramsoo Sayed Mazahir Hussain Shah; PD NHAI Shubham Yadav and other officers and representatives of the executing agencies.

The Deputy Commissioner inspected the progress of construction works related to major viaducts and tunnels at Maroge, Digdole, Khuni Nallah, Panthyal, Magerkote, Nachilana, Gangroo and other locations along the highway.

He took detailed feedback from NHAI officials and construction agencies regarding the physical progress of works, timelines and issues affecting the pace of execution. He directed the concerned agencies to expedite the ongoing works while ensuring strict adherence to prescribed quality standards, safety protocols and timelines.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the construction agencies to speed up the progress of construction work to complete the prestigious national project within the prescribed timeline. He also stressed the need for close coordination among NHAI, executing agencies and concerned departments to address bottlenecks promptly and ensure uninterrupted progress of the prestigious four-laning project.

He also inspected the measures being undertaken by NHAI and the executing agencies for stabilization and protection of landslide-prone areas and other vulnerable locations along the highway. He directed the concerned agencies to strengthen slope stabilization, drainage and other preventive measures, particularly at vulnerable stretches, to ensure the safety of commuters and minimize disruption to traffic.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that all necessary precautionary and mitigation measures should be taken proactively, especially in view of the challenging terrain and weather conditions in the district.

He further directed the concerned officers to maintain regular monitoring of the project sites and ensure timely completion of the works in accordance with the approved schedules.
