 Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma has asserted that Smart City Project will soon transform the City of Temples into a model city to be emulated in other parts of the nation.

The former Deputy Mayor said this while interacting with the engineering wing who is executing the development works in Old Jammu City under the Smart City project.

Pertinent to mention here that the development works Raghunath Bazaar to Heritage Mubraka Mandi Ward No 1 going on under the Smart City project. Residents of Ward No 1 has approached the former deputy Mayor and apprised her about the problems being faced by them due to ongoing works.

Purnima Sharma inspected the ongoing development works being executed under the Smart City project.  She directed the engineers to use quality material and ensure completion within stipulated time frame. She also asked the Executive Engineer and other officials of the engineering wing to carry out development works without any trouble to the local residents.

She also laid stress for proper construction of drains, covering of drains and proper pathway distance so that the locals may not face any inconvenience while walking on the pathways.

The former Dy Mayor said that the Union Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been providing liberal funding to Jammu and Kashmir for accelerating developmental and economic activities, adding that Jammu city is being developed in all respects to showcase it as a major attraction for the tourists visiting the Union Territory.

Meanwhile, Purnima Sharma also paid obeisance at the Bhairav Temple in Chowk Chabutra and took blessings of Baba Bhairav Nath in connection with Bhairavasthmi celebrations.

On the occasion, the former Deputy Mayor along with Mahant, Rumil Sharma of Pracheen Bhairav Mandir and prominent citizens flagged off bikers' rally from the temple. She said that this temple is famous for worshipping Kaal Bhairav who is believed to reside in Bhrikuti (eyebrows) of Lord Shiva. She asserted that besides the religious and spiritual aspect this temple is also an important segment of Jammu’s rich cultural heritage that should be preserved for the progeny at all cost.
