Lambasting the BJP-controlled administration for adopting a dictatorial attitude in addressing genuine issues of different sections of the society, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday extended unconditional support to the Jammu bandh call given by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu on August 29.
The decision to support the bandh call was taken in the meeting of the party held under the chairmanship of Haji Abdul Hamid Choudhary, vice president of the party, in which all senior leaders of the PDP were present.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu has given Jammu bandh call for August 29 in protest against the non-serious attitude of the BJP-controlled administration in J&K towards their demands and issues.
“Unfortunately, the present dispensation is shamelessly trying to suppress genuine issues of the people through oppressive means”, Mr. Choudhary said while addressing the meeting.
He regretted that the BJP-controlled administration in Jammu and Kashmir is brazenly misusing state apparatus to stifle the genuine voices of the people. “For the last over one month, lawyers of Jammu region are agitation for their genuine demands construction of a multi-story building for housing all the judicial work, registration work, Commissions, CAT, DRT, AFT, and other Tribunals within the court premises at Janipur but those at the helm of the affairs are not ready to listen to these genuine demands”, he regretted and announced that PDP has decided to support the Jammu bandh call on August 29.
Mr. Choudhary pointed out that not only lawyers, daily wagers of the Public Health Engineer (PHE) department, Power Development Department (PDD), Home Guards, Patwaris, and unemployed youth are on the streets against anti-people policies being pursued by this regime.“Instead of reaching these agitating people to solve their issues, the government has adopted a dictatorial and arrogant attitude in dealing with those who are protesting peacefully for their demands”, he regretted.
Exhorting party workers to prepare themselves for the decisive battle to protect the identity of the people, Mr. Choudhary said that Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a very crucial phase of history because those at the helm of the affairs are hell-bent to disempower residents of the erstwhile state of J&K. “Recent decision of the BJP-controlled administration to allow voting rights to outsiders in another nefarious design to political disempower the residents of J&K”, PDP vice-president said and called upon all right-thinking people of Jammu region to come forward to frustrate such evil designs the BJP and its off-shoots.
