A 4.7-magnitude earthquake shook Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district early Monday, officials said.The tremor occurred at 5.35 am, they said, adding that the Pattan area was the epicenter.
There were no reports of any damage due to the earthquake so far, the officials said.
According to preliminary information from the Android Earthquake Alerts System, the earthquake occurred at around 5:35 am IST, with its epicentre located approximately five kilometres from Hanjiwera Bala.
The tremors were felt across a wide region, including Srinagar, Baramulla, Sopore, Ganderbal, Pulwama and surrounding areas, while the impact zone extended into parts of PoK as well.
Locals reported being jolted awake by the sudden shaking, with many rushing out of their homes in fear. Windows, doors and household items rattled in several neighbourhoods, heightening anxiety, especially as the tremor struck during pre-dawn hours when most people were asleep. (News agency)
