Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on Thursday visited various panchayats including Bandi Chachia,   Nangali, Kankote,  Takia Panchayat in Poonch to meet victims of shelling and took stock of the prevailing situation.Bhalla accompanied by Distt President Ch. Ghani, BDC Chairman Poonch Jameel Kohli, BDC Nagali NazeerHussain, Sarpanch Janghir Malik, Sarpanch Mohd. Jameel, Haji Jameel, Ch. Mohd.Basher Bajran, ch. Munhir Hussain, Mohd. Bashir Jatt, Julzar Jatt, JD Chowhan,Mir Hussain Shah, Mukthyar Shah,  GulhmanHussain Meelu, Mohd. Bashir Shah,  ZahlooDin  Gulham Hussain, Master Mohd. Sharif,Ch. Zaffar Iqbal beside others visited various areas and met victims of firing.They conveyed their sympathies to the victims on behalf of the Congress party.

He took stock of the prevailing situation as a result ofheavy shelling from Pakistan leading to the loss of lives and injuries to alarge number of people, besides large scale damage to the property, forcingseveral border residents to migrate to safer areas.  Bhalla speaking on the occasion lashed out atBJP for “abandoning people living along the International Border and LoC in theJammu region and alleged that the hapless border people have been left on themercy of God amidst heavy Pak shelling.

Bhalla accused the BJP government of failing to put an endto the ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the international border in Jammuand Kashmir, saying the lives of people living in border areas have becomemiserable."The NDA government has miserably failed to put a halt to theceasefire violations by Pakistan as was promised by it to the people of thecountry ."The persistent ceasefire violations have made the life of peopleliving in border areas miserable and they are forced to lead a life marked byfear, uncertainty and mental stress," the senior Congress leader said.Alleging that the NDA government remained insensitive towards the plight andtrauma of the people, he said, "How long people of the Jammu and Kashmirand the country will be fed with rhetoric's and hollow promises as theceasefire violations go on unabated. Bhalla  said the time has come toact and silence the Pakistani guns as the residents of border areas   have suffered unimaginable loss to lives,property, livestock, crops, due to unprovoked Pakistani firing and shelling."NDA government should at least be cognizant of the plight and sufferingsof the lakhs of people living in the border belt who have been forced to leavetheir homes and hearths in an extremely chilly weather conditions," Bhallasaid.
