SRINAGAR, OCT 5: Police in Awantipora have arrested two fraudsters impersonating as police personnel near Kaigam Crossing on NHW.

Officers at the checking point established near Kaigam Crossing intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK01AF-7103. Whilechecking the documents of the vehicle, they reflected registration No. asJK13D-1271 which didn't match with the vehicle. The persons on board thevehicle were asked to provide ID cards which also turned to be fake identifyingthem as Sub Inspector Irshad Ahmad Shah and Constable Abass Ali.

During search, officers recovered two fake stamps of Sr.Superintendent of Police, Srinagar & SHO PS Awantipora. Furthermore, 100fake gold coins, two small idols and one toy pistol were also recovered fromthe vehicle. Both the persons were arrested on the spot and the vehicle wasalso seized. Materials recovered from their possession have also been seized.

Both the arrested persons have been identified as IrshadAhmad Shah son of Mohammad Afzal Shah resident of Gadikhal Awantipora and AbassAli Wani son of Ali Mohammad resident of Aawanpora Awantipora.

Case FIR No. 123/2019 under relevant sections of law wasregistered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation is going on.
