Acting tough against drug peddlers, police on Friday arrested four drug peddlers with contraband of heroin and poppy straw in separate operations in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police spokesman here said that four Punjab based drug smugglers were taken into custody with 354 gms of Heroin and 13.700 Kgs of Poppy Straw in three different operations conducted during the last two days.
All the consignments are having a market value between 20 lakhs, he said adding that the consignments were being smuggled from Kashmir to Punjab by the drug smugglers in trucks used to carry essential commodities in this lockdown period.
The separate nakas were laid at Mansar and the recoveries were made from trucks.
Arrested persons were identified as Nasar and Mohammad Saleem, both residents of Malerkotla, Sangrur (Punjab), Jameel Ahmed, also of Malerkotla, Sangrur, Punjab, Surjit of Dharamkot, Moga (Punjab).
Cases have been registered and investigations started,police added.
