NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived home onSaturday after concluding an 'extremely productive' week-long US visit, wasgiven a rousing welcome upon his arrival at the Palam airport. The PM wasfelicitated at an event outside Palam Technical Airport shortly after hisarrival in Delhi after concluding his visit to the United States of America.
On his turn, the PM thanked his party workers for giving arousing welcome to him and the countrymen for their faith in his leadership andtheir unflinching support to him.
''I want to thank you all for coming in large numbers. Thishas been a memorable welcome back home. On this occasion, I bow to each andevery Indian,'' the PM said. 'The programme in Houston, 'Howdy, Modi' wasgrand. The coming of POTUS was special.There were Republicans and Democrats. In addition to all this, what stands outis the manner in which the Indian community in USA, in Texas and in Houstonshowcased their presence,'' the PM said.
The PM further said, ''After assuming office in 2014, I wentto the UN. I went to the UN even now. In these five years, I have seen a bigchange. The respect for India, the enthusiasm towards India has increasedsignificantly. This is due to the 130 crore Indians.''
The PM's fight landed at the Palam airport around 8.15 PM. PMModi was recieved by BJP working president JP Nadda and top party leaders atthe airport. Thousands of BJP workers, who had earlier gathered outside thePalam Technical Airport, shouted ''Bharat Mata Ki Jai'' and ''PM ModiZindabad'' while welcoming the PM. Party representatives from other states hadalso arrived at the airport to welcome PM Modi. The party had earlier madeelaborate arrangements at the Palam airport for welcoming the PM.
The party had put banners and hoarding welcoming PM for his''statesmanship and extraordinary speech'' at the United Nations GeneralAssembly (UNGA). Party workers carrying placards lined up on both sides of themain road outside the Palam airport from where the PM's cavalcade passed uponhis arrival. A make-shift stage has also been erected outside the aiport fromwhere the PM is expected to address the gathering. BJP leaders had earlier claimed that morethan 20,000 people will be present outside the Palam airport to welcome PMModi.During his week-long stay in the United States, the PM addressed theUnited Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at its 74th session.
