Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President National Conference Jammu has asserted that students are future leaders of the society and future development depends on their wisdom.
He expressed this while addressing a gathering as Chief Guest during a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here today in which the NC Jammu University NCSU unanimously nominated Harsh Vardhan, scholar in the University of Jammu as President of NCSU Jammu University.
While congratulating Harsh Vardhan for his declared President NCSU and welcoming him as President of the NCSU, Rattan Lal Gupta hoped that Harsh Vardhan will highlight the issues concerning students community and get the same addressed in their best interest. He said that National Conference is well aware of the issues concerning students/ youth including the most significant issue of unemployment and the party will leave no stone unturned in getting all their issues addressed at the earliest.
The senior National Conference leader said that the present regimes i.e. Administration as well as the Govt at the Centre have highly disappointed the youth of Jammu and Kashmir especially those who are struggling for survival due to unemployment. He said that the failure of the Govt on this front is quite evident from the fact that presently unemployment is at its peak while the situation was n ever so disappointing during the successive National Conference governments in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rattan Lal Gupta asserted that the data available from reliable sources reveals that during NC regime unemployment was restricted to a meager 7 per cent while as today it has gone totally out of control reaching a whopping figure of 24 per cent.
The National Conference Provincial President made a pointed reference to the present government accusing it of having miserably failed to address the serious issue of unemployment among the youth. He said that it is due to unemployment that the youth are falling victim to drug addiction which has turned out to be a more serious issue than the unemployment a matter of great concern for the society. He appealed to the newly appointed NC Jammu University NCSU President Harsh Vardhan to remain present among the youth and work relentlessly to save them from falling prey to drug addiction.
