Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh today visited Ladakh division where he held meetings with civil society, Counsellors, and also held interaction with the Police Officers and Jawans 

The DGP J&K accompanied by ADGP (Hqrs.) PHQ Shri A.G.Mir, DIG CKR Shri V.K. Birdhi first visited Kargil. He was received by SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar. On his arrival the DGP  J&K was given a ceremonial Guardof Honour.

The DGP addressed respectable and other civil society members of the Kargil. During the meeting, the DGP commended the role of the people in maintaining public order.

DGP complimented the people for their patriotism andcommunal harmony. He said that Kargil is an example of patriotism and peace loving for the rest of the country and impressed upon the respectables to further strengthen the spirit of harmony among the people.

The DGP said that he is personally inspired by the rich values of the region and has visited Kargil four times after taking charge as|state DGP. He said that J&K Police is continuously working for the welfare of the people. The meeting with the civil society at Kargil was also attended by 121 Brig. Commander Shri Manraj Mann.SSP Kargil,CO Sh Benam Tosh, Tehsildarand all the jourisdictional officers.

The DGP said that he has directed the police units that allthe necessary help must be provided to the people whenever they need. He saidthat the police has to enhance its cooperation by redressing the grievances ofthe people. Some civil society members put forward certain demands which DGPJ&K said that will be taken up with the government at appropriate levelsfor redressal.

In the afternoon the DGP reached Leh and had a meeting withthe Chief Executive Counsellor  Sh Gyal PWangyal and other Counsellors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council.

During this meeting the CEC and other Counsellors broughtsome issues in his notice.  The DGP saidthat all their demands including the up gradation of Police Posts andinfrastructure will be looked into. Deputy Commissioner Leh,Sh Sachin KumarVaishya was also present during the meeting.

The DGP along with the officers  later on visited Phayang and inspected theland earmarked for IR 25.The DGP directed the officers to make the plans inconformity with the local climate and buildings keeping in view the localarchitecture. He directed for speedy implementation of the plans in thisregard.

The DGP also held interaction with the  police officers and personnel.  He impressed upon the jurisdictional policeofficers to tighten the noose on the criminals. He said that all the preventivemeasures must be taken to keep the crime of the under check. He said thatPolice Headquarter (PHQ) is very keen on the welfare of the police personnelbecause of the efforts of the PHQ and the kind consideration of the governmentand MHA, there was an increase in the remuneration of the SPOs, enhancement theration money allowance and hardship allowance. He said that the special welfarerelief out of the own departmental resources for the NoKs of the martyrsfamilies has been increased from Rs.15.00 lakh to Rs.20.00 lakh and for theNoKs of the SPOs martyrs have been doubled from Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.5.00 lakhbesides the number of other welfare measures have also been taken and some areunder consideration of the government. The DGP also reviewed the security scenarioof these areas with the concerned officers.
