Director General of Police Shri Dilbag Singh today visited Kishtwar, where he chaired joint officers’ meeting at District Police Office Kishtwar to review the law & order and security situation in the district, met with the civil society delegations and addressed a joint darbar of Police &CAPF. He was accompanied by the IGP Jammu zone Shri Mukesh Singh.
On his arrival DGP was received by DIG DKR Shri B S Tuti Brigadier 9 sector RR Shri Vikram Bhan, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Shri Angrez Singh Rana, SSP Kishtwar Shri Harmeet Singh, Commandant 52 Bn. CRPF Shri Sanjay Hajra and officers of Police & CAPF.
The DGP chaired a joint officers’ meeting at District Police Office Kishtwar. He was briefed about security scenario and measures taken for maintaining peace and order in the district. DGP complimented and appreciated the efforts of J&K Police and other security agencies for maintaining law and order in the district. He said that it was due to close coordination and synergy among the security forces that recently success was achieved against the terrorists.
The DGP said that we are dealing with a hostile neighbour and we will have to foil its attempts. He said that there are reports of infiltration from Pakistan and now recent encounters also prove that some terrorists have sneaked in. He emphasised upon the officers to maintain pressure on terrorists and exhorted all ranks to remain vigilant regarding concerns of law & order and security of the area.
Shri Singh said that the Hon’ble Union Hone Minister Shri Amit Shah and Hon’ble Governor Shri Satya Pal Malik have complimented the State Police and security forces for their success against terrorists in Doda-Kishtwar range. He impressed for well organised and pro-active operations against the terrorists particularly in upper reaches to increase the sense of security among the masses. He also emphasised for Civic Action Programs to be conducted at large scale to earn more and more public trust.
The DGP also met with the delegations of Muslims and Hindu communities of Kishtwar. The members of the delegation promised to work for the communal harmony, peace and amity. The DGP listened the issues raised by members of the society and assured that their issues will be addressed. He thanked them for their cooperation in maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood in the area. The delegation complimented the JK Police and security forces for the achievements and services to the people particularly of Kishtwar district.
The DGP also visited Police Component camp Kishtwar where he interacted with personnel and enquired about their wellbeing.
Later on, the DGP addressed a joint darbar of Police, CRPF, SSB, RAF and ITBP officers and personnel. While addressing the DGP said that it was important to meet officers and personnel particularly in far flung areas to know their needs for timely and adequate response. He impressed upon police and forces to make the Kishtwar militancy free by neutralising the residual militancy.
He also impressed upon the DC Kishtwar Shri Angrez Singh who was present to look into issue of black topping of road inside DPL and water supply. He directed officers to look after the needs of Jawans in view of approaching winter. The Jawans put forth certain grievances. The DGP listened patiently and ordered redressal of some of them concerning Police on the spot.
