Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechuryvisited Srinagar on Thursday and met his party's four-time MLA Mohd YousufTarigami. Yechury visited Srinagar after securing permission from the SupremeCourt. Yechury is back in Delhi and will file an affidavit based upon hisvisit.

Speaking on his visit, Yechury said that though thegovernment speaks of normalcy in the region, not much can be said about it.

"I didn't get to speak to anyone or go anywhere else ormeet anybody else. And this is what it is. I have only met my party leader.Doctors were called in for his medical check up. On the basis of my visit, Iwill file with details an affidavit in the Supreme Court," Yechury toldIndia Today.The Jammu and Kashmir administration escorted Yechury from theairport to Tarigami's residence amid tight security. Yechury stayed atTarigami's house during his Srinagar visit.

 Yechury had filed ahabeus corpus plea in the Supreme Court seeking permission to visit Tarigami,who is under arrest like former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullahand Mehbooba Mufti. They were taken into custody after the Centre revokedspecial status of Jammu and Kashmir with a new Presidential Order under Article370 on August 5.
