Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala has resigned as theparty's state president. Barala resigned on the back of the BJP's poor show inthe Haryana election. As of last updating this report, the BJP was leading ononly 40 seats in Haryana. The party needs to win at least 46 seats to win theHaryana election.

Adding to Barala's misery, the BJP leader is unlikely to winhis own election. Subhash Barala contested from the Tohana assembly seat inFatehabad district, from where he is currently trailing by more than 20,000votes. The Jannayak Janata Party's Devender Singh Babli is leading from theseat.

The Haryana assembly election result trends point to a hungassembly in the BJP-ruled state. The BJP is currently leading on 40 seats whilethe Congress is leading on 31 seats. Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janata Party, which is leading on 10 seats could play a crucial role in determing who formsthe next government in Haryana.
