Hitting out at the Centre over the security clampdown in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)chief Mehbooba Mufti said trees in the Aarey Colony of Mumbai were greater than Kashmiri lives.

Following the Supreme Court's direction to the Maharashtra government to halt tree felling in Aarey, Mehbooba Mufti, whose Twitter is presently handled by her daughter Iltija, stated that Aarey trees were greater than Kashmiri lives.

In another tweet from the handle of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said she was glad that activists were able tostop the felling of trees in Aarey and asked why not the same right to Kashmiris."One wonders why Kashmiris have been deprived of the very same right to free speech and expression. The government claims they are now at parwith other Indians but truth is they've been stripped of even fundamental rights," the tweet said.

Mehbooba Mufti's Twitter account is managed by her daughterIltija. Iltija had earlier she said received "due authorisation" to manage her mother's Twitter account since the former Jammu and Kashmir CM continues to be under house arrest in Srinagar.

Mehbooba Mufti’s tweets came after the Supreme Courtres trained authorities from cutting anymore trees in Mumbai's Aarey to set up aMetro car shed.
