Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Army Commander, Northern Command,accompanied by the White Knight Corps Commander, Lt Gen Paramjit Singh visitedforward posts in Bhimber Gali Sector and hinterland posts in Chandarkot Sectorto review the operational preparedness and the prevalent security situation inview of revocation of Article 370 in J&K.
During the visit to the forward posts in Bhimber GaliSector, the Army Commander was briefed by the commanders on ground about thecurrent operational situation, prevailing security scenario and thepreparedness of the formations in dealing with the emerging security situation.The Army Commander was also briefed on the measures being taken by theFormation to meet the challenges of increased ceasefire violations by Pakistansince 05 Aug 19 and the swift and effective retaliatory measures beingundertaken. He was also briefed on the actions taken to thwart the evil designsof the enemy through superior and aggressive domination of Line of Controlbeing exercised by the troops and the defensive measures put in place.
During the visit to the hinterland posts in ChandarkotSector, the Army Commander was briefed by the commanders on ground about theprevailing security scenario and the preparedness of the formation in dealingwith the situation in light of the revocation of Article 370. Situation in DKRregion is peaceful and daily needs of people are being met despite certainrestrictions. The Army Commander was also briefed in detail in formation's rolein maintaining a peaceful and conducive environment in the Area ofResponsibility in Doda & Kishtwar region. The Army Commander praised thesynergy between the Army, J&K Police and the civil administration inmaintaining peaceful law and order situation. The Army Commander also praisedthe AWAAM for showing restraint and faith in the government policies by maintaininga peaceful and conducive environment in the region. Army Commander directedthat all assistance be extended to the Awam and troops should reach out topeople so as to reduce there hardships. Medical and logistics support beprovided to the needy.
The Army Commander, during his visit to both the sectors,interacted with the soldiers and complimented them for their unwaveringdedication to duty, selfless devotion and high standard of professionalism. Hewas appreciative of the measures and standard operating procedures institutedby the units and formations in their area of responsibility to minimise thecasualties due to cease fire violations, infiltration bids and the terroristinitiated incidents. The need to be prepared for effectively meeting currentemerging security challenge was also reinforced. He exhorted all ranks on theneed to remain vigilant to counter the nefarious designs of the adversary anddirected that the response should be strong and effective. The Army Commanderappreciated the preparedness and most importantly the morale of all soldiers.
