Congress headquarter on Moulana Azad road in Srinagar was closed on Thursday due to worsening COVID-19 situation in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.

Though no formal announcement was made in Srinagar, Chief spokesman of the J&K Congress Ravinder Sharma in a statement at Jammu has said that both Srinagar and Jammu offices will remain closed for a week.

After several leaders and workers tested positive for COVID-19, BJP has closed Srinagar and Jammu party headquarters for ten days.

Sharma said all Congress colleagues and others are hereby informed that Congress headquarters in Jammu and Srinagar are hereby closed for all kinds of routine activities for a period of one week in view of worsening covid-19 situation.

However, senior Congress leaders, including Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president G Amir were not available.

A security force jawan posted at main gate of Congress headquarter near here said we have no information why the office has been closed. We were told not to allow anyone to enter the office, he said.
